Scottsboro Electric Power Board Selects Adara’s SIPV Solution to Accelerate DOCSIS Expansion

Up to 80% of Bandwidth Expected to be Freed

TORONTO, ON – June 13, 2017 – Adara Technologies Inc., the provider of game-changing solutions for mid-sized cable service providers, today announced that Scottsboro Electric Power Board (SEPB), a triple-play cable operator based in Scottsboro, AL with over 10,000 homes passed, has selected to deploy Adara’s Switched IP Video (SIPV) solution to expand its DOCSIS Internet service and increase dramatically its HD and 4K/HDR video services, both quickly and cost effectively.

“Scottsboro’s goals for 2017 – expanding DOCSIS and increasing HD and 4K video cost effectively – did not appear to be possible to them until they learned about the Switched IP Video solution,” said Joseph Nucara, CEO & Co-founder of Adara. “Not only does Adara’s SIPV solution meet their Internet expansion and video upgrade goals, but they are now able to avoid analog reclamation, an HFC plant upgrade, and STB upgrades, each of which was many times the cost of the SIPV solution.”

Adara’s SIPV solution delivers video more efficiently by “switching” the programs into network service groups only when they are requested, rather than wasting valuable bandwidth by the typical practice of broadcasting all channels, to all set-top boxes, all the time. The benefit is that SIPV can free up to 80% or more of an operator’s video bandwidth in as little as 90 days so that it can be immediately used for DOCSIS 3.0, 3.1 or Full Duplex expansion to multi-Gigabit.

“The important core building blocks of SIPV are widely-deployed, proven and extremely reliable, and significantly works with legacy QAM set-tops and gateways,” said Stan Koukarine, Adara’s CTO and Co-founder. “In fact, with SIPV, the overall customer experience is not only better and more reliable than broadcasting, but the super-efficient delivery mechanism enables an unlimited channel line-up offering and a low-cost, success-based introduction of Ultra-HD/4K, as well.”

Access Communications Selects Adara’s SIPV Solution to Accelerate DOCSIS Expansion

Solution to Free Up Significant Bandwidth

TORONTO, ON – March 21, 2017 – Adara Technologies Inc., the provider of game-changing solutions for mid-sized cable service providers, today announced that Access Communications Co-operative Ltd., a Canadian triple-play cable operator based in Regina with over 125,000 homes passed in 230 communities throughout Saskatchewan, has selected to deploy Adara’s Switched IP Video (SIPV) solution to free up bandwidth and enable the expansion of its DOCSIS Internet services quickly and cost effectively.

“We currently operate both DAC and HITS-QT platforms with Motorola set-tops for video, and like most other operators, our RF spectrum is full, leaving limited room to expand our DOCSIS Internet services,” said Craig Van Ham, VP Technology at Access. “We’re looking forward to providing our customers with faster broadband speeds by taking advantage of the newly freed-up bandwidth.”

“The important core building blocks of SIPV are widely-deployed, proven and extremely reliable which also means that SIPV works with legacy QAM set-tops and gateways,” said Stan Koukarine, Adara’s CTO and Co-founder. “In fact, with switched, the overall customer experience is not only better and more reliable than broadcasting, but the super-efficient delivery mechanism enables an unlimited channel line-up offering and a low-cost, success-based introduction of Ultra-HD/4K, as well,” he continued.

SIPV’s video delivery efficiency not only frees up bandwidth in the HFC access network, but it also saves bandwidth in the IP core or leased IP lines that typically interconnect an operator’s distant communities. “Adara’s SIPV solution will allow us to connect many of our current HITS- QT+ communities directly to our DAC network and video sources in Regina, enabling us to deliver more state-of-the-art video services to these towns. This will allow us to eliminate dozens of headends,” said Mr. Van Ham.

Cass Cable Tv Launches Switched IP Video And Advanced UI With Adara Technologies Solution

Industry First: Operator to cap, not forklift, Motorola STB investment to grow subscribers with Cisco-based Adara Solution

TORONTO, ON – February 12, 2014 – Adara Technologies Inc., the provider of cloud-based, hosted and managed advanced video solutions that enable mid-to-small sized service providers to affordably implement advanced video services, today announced that Cass Cable TV has launched a Switched IP Video network upgrade using the Adara solution that has enabled the operator to cost-effectively deliver hundreds of incremental HD channels as part of an advanced User Experience.

Also, in a significant industry-first, the Adara solution allows Cass Cable TV, a Motorola-shop, to cap yet maintain its Motorola headend and digital set-top box investment, while growing its digital subscriber footprint using advanced Cisco set-tops that co-exist simultaneously. The Adara solution incorporates Cisco’s Switched IP Video technology to deliver incremental HD services, and combines Cisco’s advanced hybrid RF+IP set-top boxes with a next generation User Experience, delivering a platform for the continued addition of advanced UI features and interactive web applications traditionally associated with the latest Tier 1 IPTV implementations.

Adara’s solution also includes a broad suite of online utilities as well as diagnostic and reporting tools designed to increase an operator’s network visibility and control. “Our AdaraMAX utilities not only deliver operational savings for our customers,” explained Stan Koukarine, CTO for Adara Technologies, “but they also drive revenue growth through reduced subscriber churn since issues are identified and resolved more proactively, often before they impact subscribers.”

The Adara hosted and managed video solution is a unique breakthrough in that it is applicable to any service provider irrespective of whether the provider is currently invested in a legacy Motorola or Cisco/SA digital video headend, or what type set-top conditional access is being used. “It has been challenging to figure out how to deliver the experience our subscribers want without breaking the bank,” said Tom Allen, Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Cass Cable TV. “With Adara, we are using Cisco’s technology to deliver new features and fantastic pictures, while our Motorola set-tops continue to earn us revenue. Our future investments will be spaced out as we win new customers and upgrade our current ones to a vastly superior video experience.”

Cass Cable TV, a triple-play service provider with approximately 16,000 subscribers in Central Illinois, chose the Adara solution over an analog reclamation approach using Digital Terminal Adapters (DTA). For Cass Cable TV, both the CAPEX and the OPEX for the Switched IP Video upgrade solution was less than one-tenth the cost of a DTA approach.

“Adara’s solution delivers an order of magnitude more, at a fraction of the cost, compared to the other options we looked at,” said Gerald S. Gill, President of Cass Cable TV. “We were reluctant to invest millions of dollars on a DTA roll-out only to have to invest again a few years later on a real solution like Adara’s anyway. With this solution, we have set ourselves up nicely to begin winning back and retaining thousands more video customers in the coming months and years. We’re anticipating a real game-changer for our video business.”

With less than 2000 subscribers, there is a clear demonstration of the solution’s ability to scale profitably to smaller operators.

Adara Technologies Turns Up Game-Changer Video Solution With Quebec City Operator

Cloud-Delivered Switched Digital Video and Advanced User Interface to Enable Advanced Video Services, Hundreds of HD Channels

TORONTO, ON – July 31, 2012 – Adara Technologies Inc., the provider of game-changer, cloud-delivered video solutions that enable mid-to-small sized service providers to affordably revolutionize their video business, today announced that it has launched its powerful services solution with Coopérative de Câblodistribution de L’Arrière Pays (CCAP) of Quebec City, a triple-play service provider with 13,000 video subscribers. The solution’s cloud-delivered Switched Digital Video (SDV) and next-generation set-top box user interface will enable the operator to deliver hundreds of HD channels and advanced, IP-based interactive video services to its subscribers. “Our revolutionary and compelling new services and capabilities enable us to win against satellite and growing IPTV competition,” said Jacques Perron, CCAP’s General Manager. “The SDV capability not only allows us to quickly surpass satellite’s HD channel offering, but it also prepares us for an imminent future in the next few years when we will need to deliver an exclusively HD line-up of hundreds of channels,” continued Jacques Lemoine, CCAP’s Director of Technical Services. Adara’s hosted and managed video solution is a unique breakthrough in that it is applicable to Moto-shops and Cisco-shops alike and does not require a fork-lift replacement of the operators’ investment in set-top boxes, CAS and headend. The solution incorporates SDV technology in a cloud-delivered implementation to cost-effectively enable the delivery of hundreds, even thousands, of HD channels. It also combines Cisco’s advanced, web-connected set-top boxes with an advanced, next generation UI for interactive web applications, widgets and provider-controlled over-the-top (OTT) content services. “Adara’s suite of remote diagnostic, reporting and control utilities are a tremendous bonus,” added Stéphane Arseneau, CCAP’s Director of Administration and Customer Service. “These will help us provide better, more responsive and even proactive customer service which we know will improve our retention and reduce churn,” he continued. While Adara’s solution delivers many times the effective incremental network capacity compared to an analog reclamation approach using Digital Terminal Adapters (DTA), Adara’s solution costs only a fraction — one twentieth, on average — of that of a DTA approach. “Many of the operators approaching us today have already completed analog reclamation and, with their addition of only 100 HD channels, the reclaimed spectrum is already completely full again,” said Joseph Nucara, Adara’s CEO. “With our SDV approach combined with our advanced User Interface and IP apps & widgets, time-to-market is fast — 4 months typically – and the operator’s video business gains a renewed lifespan of 10 to 15 years.”

CCAP Selects Adara Technologies for Hosted Switched Digital Video Upgrade

To Deliver Advanced Video Services, More HD Channels to Subscribers

TORONTO, ON – July 25, 2011 – Adara Technologies Inc., the provider of cloud-based, hosted and managed advanced video solutions that enable mid-to-small sized service providers to affordably implement advanced video services, today announced that it has been selected by Coopèrative de Câblodistribution de L’Arrière Pays (CCAP) of Quebec City, a triple-play service provider with 13,000 video subscribers, to upgrade its network using Adara’s hosted Switched Digital Video (SDV) solution.

To-date, CCAP has delivered all of its video services by operating as a hub-site of a large Tier 1 MSO, giving the company limited control, flexibility and access to advanced services. It sought ways to bring advanced interactive video services, more HD and increased service package flexibility to its subscribers while augmenting the opportunities for improved IPG, branding and overall service to customers.

“We never imagined that there would be a cost-effective way for us, or any small operator, to implement SDV,” said Jacques Lemoine, CCAP’s Director of Technical Services. “And then we learned that Cable Cable Inc.—an operator in Ontario less than one third the size of CCAP – had achieved great success over the past few years after having deployed the hosted and managed SDV solution from Adara. We are looking for equally spectacular results.”

Adam’s hosted and managed video solution is a unique breakthrough in that it is applicable to any provider irrespective of whether they are currently invested ma Motorola, Cisco/SA. or other legacy digital video headend, CAS and associated set-top boxes. The solution incorporates Cisco’s SDV technology to deliver even hundreds of incremental HD services and it also combines Cisco’s advanced, web-connected set-top boxes with an advanced, next generation UI for interactive web applications, widgets and delivery of provider-controlled over-the-top (OTT) content.

“We are very encouraged by how Adara’s hosted and managed video solutions help smaller operators like us control our own destiny,” said Stéphane Arseneau, CCAP’s Director of Administration and Customer Service. “Our ultimate success in the video business is a direct result of our ability to delight our customers with the state-of-art services they desire. If we cannot deliver, our customers will go elsewhere.”

“With SDV, CCAP will now be able to add even hundreds of HD and SD, French- and English-language programs to its service offerings” said Joseph Nucara, Adam’s CEO and Co-founder. “All without the customer disruption, burden and huge costs that would otherwise be associated other DTV solution options.”

While Adam’s solution delivers many times more effective incremental network capacity (plus a host of additional unmatched features and benefits) compared to an analog reclamation approach to bandwidth management using Digital Terminal Adapters (DTA), it costs only a fraction of that of a DTA approach — as little as one-twentieth or even less depending upon the system size — and, in cooperation with partner Cisco Capital, leasing and financing options are available to help providers more effectively manage their cash flows in a more success-based, pay-as-you-grow fashion.
